Seminars:

Seminars are conducted for students starting from 1st year to 4th year to improve the presentation skills of the students. The program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn strategies to develop the academic skills and enhance voice projection, articulation, pace and fluency, body language, eye contact, and gestures. In addition to providing information on a select topic, the seminar atmosphere offers students the opportunity to interact and ask questions related to their individual concerns about the subject.

The class of 60 is divided into three batches (A,B,C) with a group of 20 students.Each of this batch is sub-divided into 5 sub-groups comprising three students in a batch (Main batch A- Sub groups-(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5).The academic schedule for the seminar will be announced in the beginning along with the topics.

           Tutorials:-

    1. Working through practice problems is a key study strategy to succeed in any course
    2. Tutorials are conducted in core subjects starting from 1st year itself "to develop an individual student's capacity to think in depth about a subject area, and to operate with growing confidence within its techniques and methodologies, with the expectation that the process will promote increased understanding of the discipline."
    3. The Class of 60 is divided into three batches(A,B,C) with group of 20 students.The Students are free to ask questions that crop up in their minds while listening to lectures and attending tutorials.The teachers make sure to answer these queries in thye best way a student can understand.
    4. Hands on Learning:

    5. Especially subjects like C programming, Java programming etc. are taught using "hands on learning" mode that are conducted in the labs. This mode of teaching is introduced at MLRIT since it is very important for the students to understand programming concepts—or even knowing a bit of code. This will help the students in learning how to program and help them in understanding how programs and applications function, giving them insight into the tools and resources that they use every day.

The Learning by Doing (LBD) initiative at MLRIT is an approach where students acquire essential knowledge and skills through active, self- reflective engagement with the world inside the classroom and beyond.  At MLRIT, students are encouraged to do micro projects from second   year itself.   • Certification programs are conducted for students in IBM, ORACLE, CIT,.NET,JAVA,DB2,BEC(Business English Certificate) from Cambridge.
  • Technical Competitions:
  • Students are motivated to take part in National/International technical and programming competitions like TCS CODEVITA, HACKER RANK, JOHNDEERE,GOOGLE CODE JAM,VIRTUSA APPTITE,ACMICPC etc.
  • These knowledge challenges will notonly improve the problem solving skills and logical skills of a student but also acts as a platform for the career ooprtunities in Top Most MNC's with good pakage.Students are trained by Industry experts beyond class hours.

  • Finishing School:
  • Finishing schools is a supplementary training school that attemps to compensate for the deficiencies by providing specialized training in technical skills as well as communication and problem solving skills.
  • Every week 10 hrs (after college regular timings) are planned in order
    • To nurture excellence in professionalism and human conduct.
    • To develop a deep understanding of corporate psychodynamics and expectations from employees
    • To help students experience the elements of persona building and self grooming

  • Indian School of Business –Technology Entrepreneurship Program (ISB-TEP):
  • ISB – TEP - Technology Entrepreneurship Programme (TEP)  aimed at encouraging and enabling engineering students to consider entrepreneurship as a career choice. Over a two-year period, the programme aims to embed technology entrepreneurship education, across the major disciplines of engineering and help the student's to create and launch new business ventures.
  • Helping students master each step is not an easy task. The "11 steps of guided design" provide a good approach to problem solving:
    • identify the problem,
    • state the problem objective,
    • list constraints, assumptions, and facts,
    • generate possible solutions,
    • determine the most likely solution,
    • analyze the solution,
    • synthesize the solution,
    • evaluate the solution,
    • prepare a report,
    • implement the plan,
    • check results.
  • The sequence is designed to provide a clear process for thinking through the complexities of real problems
  • The 1st batch of 47 students are in the 2nd  year of the program and working on the following projects:
    • Problem 1: To develop a prototype of Smart Water Heater.
    • Problem 2: To develop a Prototype of Smart Gas Measuring Device.
    • Problem 3: Position reporting System for a Vehicle that displays in real-time the position of the moving Vehicle without using GPS
    • Problem 4: To develop a Prototype of Car Digital Fuel Meter.
  • The 2nd batch with 104 students will commence w.e.f July 2015

Online Tests:  

Online Examination is the latest trend for selecting candidates in Educational and Employment Sectors. MLRIT is conducting Assignments and Objective tests for every unit of subject from the 1st year itself " To provide less effort and Time to the students and it is easy to measure Student Performance in each subject/course.


 Online Placement Tests:

Online Placement tests are conducted in subjects like English, Aptitude, Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning to check the acedamic skill levels of students.It helps to Identify areas of strength and weakness and then the college can place the students at Right level.


Parents Communications:

The college has Strong Communication Channel. The information about student up-to-date attendence, results,Circulars,and other updates is informed through various communication modes SMS facility, Letters, Telephonic information.


 OPAC:

An online facility of "Book Serach" is provided through OPAC(Online Public Access Catalogue) that enables a student and Faculty to search the available of required books.


E-Notice Board:

Online Student Portal provides E-notice board that display all important information, Notifications,annnouncements,events  made of college level are display on Student portal.


MLRIT Overall Championship:

The MLRIT Overall Championship trophy will be given every year during the annual day celebrations. The branch accumulating the highest points from all events (Sports , Games and cultural competitions) will be awarded the overall championship.

To reinforce the importance of VERBAL & QUANTITATIVE ABILITY and to make the competitions more interesting, “knowledge marathon” competition is included for deciding the highest points for overall championship.

The procedure followed for calculation of points in knowledge marathon is as follows:

1. Class Wise Selection round – In this round whole class will be writing the Exam and top 10 members (Group) will be selected from each section for the second round.

2. Department wise elimination round– This is the final round, the competition will be between the groups selected in the previous round .

3. Depending upon the average, the dept with highest average score will accumulate 5 points and the dept with second highest average will accumulate 3 points and the dept with 3rd highest average will accumulate 2 points.


GAP Lab:

Gap Labs are the special lab courses identified for some of the Core subjects and Lab subjects which do not have labs in Acedamics and those are more important for GATE and Campus placements.


Blooms Taxonomy:

"Towards Outcomes Based Learning!"

MLRIT has revised its teaching methodologies towards Outcome-based systems so as to focus on increasing students' learning and; ultimate performance abilities to the highest possible levels before they leave college. Bloom's taxonomy is used in every subject to provide a common language for teachers to discuss and exchange learning and assessment methods. The goal of using Bloom's taxonomy is to encourage higher-order thinking skills such as applying knowledge to a real setting, analyzing problems and developing solutions, evaluating reasoning processes or actions

Soft Skills Lab:

In order to increases motivation, alertness, and to improve the quality of student  responses we at MLRIT Conduct soft skills labs Integrating varying formats such as lecture, text, graphics, audio, video, Web resources, projection devices, and interactive devices in a lesson.

Role plays: 

Role Plays - Students assume one of the characters in a simulated situation in order to experience different points of view or positions.

Camera: 

Student's activities are recorded as they perform a skill so that they can review their performance later. 

Film or television: 

Film or television clips are used to engage students during lectures or to fuel discussions of course content by pointing out either fallacies or realities depicted there.


 Skits - Activating language learning…

“The problem of not wanting to speak or, more often, not knowing what to say is practically resolved because the activity makes it necessary to talk”.

Skits in ELCS lab are introduced to improve self-esteem of the students, build their confidence in using the target language (English) as well as develop many of the other skills.

In every ELCS lab hr students are grouped into team of 5 to 6 members. The topics are provided well in advance. Students are encouraged to explore English through their imagination and creativity and to express this through language, and other forms of communication.

One of the main aims of using skits is to provide an active, stimulating, fun and creative environment to develop the student’s language learning potential. Unlike in guided practice, students are involved in real communication while they “activate language to communicate real meaning, rather than just practicing language”.


Simulation lab:

Apart from training students to use bench top equipment, robots, PLCs,  and laboratory equipment students at MLRIT are also trained to perform simulation experiments. This provides a more advanced experience as  students become more familiar with components and circuit building which  is very similar to the actual industrial design tools used by professionals to  develop their circuits. Students have flexibility to design and test electronic circuits, trying all the "what if" scenarios without ever worrying about faulty parts or bad connections.
